Workouts

Below are links to a few basic swim workouts. These are generalized versions of the more detailed training instruction I provide to clients.

Outdoor Swimming

There are limited opportunities to practice lake swims, but 2 Chicago Park district beaches are worth visiting in the summer. Ohio Street beach offers beginners a relatively safe place to practice since you swim in shallow water along Lake Shore drive. Breakwalls help keep the waves to a minimum. Another good place to practice is the 57th Street beach/promontory point which is less protected.

Workouts

Wetsuits are a triathlete’s best friend. They make you more buoyant and faster in the water. Given our climate in the midwest, I recommend that if you’re looking for a wetsuit you get a full sleeved one.
